The Guardians of Nature visualizes a world in which all children identify themselves as guardians of our natural resources, catalyzing an inter-generational change that helps to solve environmental, social, and economic problems of communities around the planet.
The Guardians of Nature seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in Latin America by promoting eco-literacy: developing communication campaigns, systematizing environmental processes and creating free, accessible, and collaborative eco-material. These outputs can be used in curricula by teachers, school boards and Ecological Blue Flag committees starting in Costa Rica and extending throughout Latin America.
The Guardians empowers children and teachers to take action on problems that directly affect them. It invites them to communicate and share their own solutions to promote change, and it gives them a VOICE in the world.
Based in Nosara, Guanacaste, Guardians of Nature is a program of the Del Mar Academy Foundation, a living laboratory of good environmental practices with children of 20 different nationalities and ages ranging from 18 months to twelfth grade.
