A message from Carlos de Paco, Director for Costa Rica, Inter-American Development Bank:
As you know, our Costa Rica has been affected by the terrible effects of storm Nate. For the specialized authorities, Nate has become the worst natural disaster to hit our country in decades. The devastation caused by this storm, which resulted in the loss of human life and severely damaged our infrastructure, agriculture and much of the communities in the impacted areas, even surpasses the effects of Hurricane Otto and it is estimated that reconstruction costs could reach $1 billion.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, I call for the solidarity that characterizes us and encourage you to participate in the activities that together with a group of fellow-citizens are organizing to raise funds for reconstruction, and that will be available during the next few weeks under the motto #PuraVidaCostaRica for easy identification.
Related events will take place around Washington DC, and Amigos of Costa Rica has collaborated with the IDB to provide donors with the option to give their support using credit cards, Paypal, or checks mailed to our office.
The 5 activities or ways you could help are:
